Suzzallo Library is the central library and a landmark in the University of Washington, Seattle. Architecture style of the main library complex is an example of the Collegiate Gothic style architecture.

It is known for more than just its books and exquisite architecture. It is a local favorite among Potterheads for its striking resemblance to the Hogwarts Library.

Grand Staircase leads from the first to the third floors.

The Suzzallo Reading Room features a vaulted ceiling with vibrantly colored and gilded details. A 1927 article in The Pacific Builder and Engineer stated that “This room has been pronounced by experts to be the most beautiful on the continent and is ranked among the most beautiful in the world.”

The second-floor Suzzallo Reading Room, measures 65-feet high, 52-feet wide and 250-feet long. A timber-vaulted ceiling looks down on long, wooden study tables, which seem to stretch forever.
Big church-type, leaded glass windows appear close to each other, starting above the stained oak bookcases and ending by the ceiling, appearing on two walls for the length of the room.

They bring in natural illumination during the day, which adds to the artificial light provided just above the study tables and from a series of hanging lamps.
Hand-painted world globes at both ends of the room give balance to the space.

The Grand Stair Hall also houses one of the world’s biggest books, a series of photographs of Bhutan by Michael Hawley.
