4. Merlion park
Merlion is the mythic symbol of Singapore and easily the most popular attraction on the whole island and is one of Singapore’s most recognizable monuments. The Merlion statue is the head of a lion with the body and tail of a fish, and the hybrid creature spouts water from its mouth and into the bay. The head of Merlion represents Singapura, the city’s first name, which means ’lion city’ in Malay. The fish tail and body symbolizes Singapore’s old days as a small fishing town.
In addition to the statue, this park has panoramic view of the bay and marvel at the collection of architectural icons that dot the impressive skyline. The park is free to visit at any time of the day (though we recommend visiting at night). Admire the bay. From the Merlion Park, take a river cruise on a restored bumboat and explore the other famous attractions—such as Boat Quay and Clarke Quay—along the Singapore River.

11. Orchard Road
Singapore is a world-class city for style and designer chic and The Orchard Road area is a great place to start a shopping spree, as there are high-end stores at every turn. Orchard road is Singapore’s retail heart, with discount outlets, department stores and upscale boutiques, alongside luxury hotels. You’d expect nothing less from a neighborhood that boasts 22 malls and six department stores including IMAX movie theaters and karaoke establishments. There are plenty of eateries in the neighborhood as well that serve amazing food.

Burrough mountain trail offers spectacular view of Mt Rainier and Emmons Glacier. We do make sure to get couple of trails in the Mt Rainier area every year, and we like to share our pictures and memories from each of our hikes. This one is from a summer starter hike in July couple of days after the road opened till Sunrise visitor center. Snow had almost melted but please check the trail conditions with rangers before heading out. We had to use our microspikes to cross some steep snowfields while crossing the mountain slopes. Something like the Kahtoola MICROspikes Footwear Traction are essential for trails like these.
